December Meetup:
Thursday, December 17th

Guest Speaker: Mike Browning, Campus Ministries of Grace Christian Church at CSUMike Browning

“My name is Mike Browning and I am a campus evangelist at Colorado State University. My fiancé, Ashley, and I started doing full-time campus ministry in December of 2008. Both of us were students at CSU when God really touched our hearts and changed our lives through the Campus Ministries of Grace Christian Church.

We would love to share with you more about how God is reaching literally thousands of students at CSU with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As a staff of thirty-three, we have been able to share the Gospel with literally thousands of students, and we’re just getting started. Here’s what the first week of this year’s fall semester looked like:

• 2,941 students were approached with the Gospel
• 795 of them are interested in finding a church and/or meeting in a Bible study

Those are some statistics from our first week of this last semester. That has translated into hundreds of Bible studies, and most importantly, many new believers in Christ! I am currently teaching 21 weekly Bible studies and Ashley is teaching 15 weekly Bible studies, as well.

God is touching the hearts of so many young people on our campus. We are excited to share with you more about how He is doing it, and how you can be a part of it through your prayers and partnership.

Thank you for your time and interest in this ministry!”

In Christ,
Mike Browning

Nina St. John Biography
I was born in Connecticut and with the exception of stops in Ontario and Vancouver Canada have lived in New England, mostly in Connecticut and Vermont.

After spending 25 years in the insurance industry, the last 9 in management, I felt God had other plans for me.  I sensed a passion to do more than the corporate routine.  I felt I was working to become something I was supposed to be in the world’s eyes rather than listening to what God wanted me to do.

I have felt called to missions since I was a very small child, gazing for hours at the photograph of Jesus, surrounded by children asking “What happened to your hand?” which hung above my bed.  I was blessed to mission in South Africa in 2006, but only just recently realized the significance of missions in my own back yard.  This is the reason Tim and I have chosen Acts 1:8 as the passage for the model for our life’s work as Denver Christian Family…”But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”   This is our Jerusalem!

It is with great humility that I find myself in this field, sharing the word of God through the works of Christian Leaders, Mission Makers and the Encouraging Words (to name a few of the columns), of so many talented and mission-minded citizens.  We have been blessed with the opportunity to work within our community in such an intimate and fulfilling way.

As a Christian, continually growing in my own faith, it is my prayer that this publication will personally enrich the lives of all who read its pages.  My prayer, too, is that you will partner with us to help us to make this publication something the entire Christian community can be proud of.  I currently reside in Denver, Colorado.

Tim St. John Biography
Born in Miami, Florida and raised in Gadsden, Alabama, I spent my early years listening to the sermons and Bible stories of my father, a prominent Baptist Minister.  My parents spent the first few years in Miami and Atlanta before settling in Gadsden for the beginning of my elementary, junior high and high school years.  I became a Christian at the age of 10 and growing up the son of a minister for the first 20 years or so of my life my father was the only minister I knew.  As I’ve told him before, that’s both a blessing and a curse.  Sometimes he would step in and take care of Spiritual needs and directions that I should have been allowed to do on my own.

As a freshman at the University of Alabama, I was told by an English Composition professor that I “had the talent to become a very successful writer.”  I ignored this advice and continued in my chosen course of study, Pre-Law, until transferring to Auburn University and majoring in Management and Accounting.  After graduation from Auburn University I lived in Birmingham, Alabama for 25 years.

After reaching adulthood and having to stand on my own Spiritually, I have felt the call of God to do some sort of ministry since I was in my 20’s.  However, for most of the years in between my 20’s and now I haven’t answered the call.  That all changed in 2002 when our church held its first annual Global Impact Celebration for missions.  I went to the alter and dedicated the remaining years of my life to serving in some sort of ministry.  I didn’t know whether it was fulltime missions or volunteering my time and services to a trip or two each year to a mission field but since then God has sent me all over the world to answer His commission.

God gave me the talent to put words to paper unlike my father who delivered sermons from the pulpit.  Although I’ve never felt my calling from God was to be behind a pulpit I’ve had to deliver sermons on mission trips to Peru, Central America and Israel.  My writing poems, short stories and a novel led me to write a weekly faith based column in an Alabama newspaper before moving to Denver.  I now feel led by God to put the talent He have me to use with Denver Christian Family magazine in my new mission field of Colorado – my Jerusalem as referenced in Acts 1:8.

After 25 years in the corporate world I’m now a former Accounting/IT executive who has pursued a passion for writing.  My short stories, poetry and novel can be found in various publications an amazon.com.  My wife, Nina, and I have recently brought the publication Denver Christian Family to Colorado as publisher and editor.  I currently reside in Denver, Colorado.
